so...say ive got 25 bagillion units to the 100th power for my ground plane.....isnt this gunna do some serious damage to my render time?

Nope....all the memory that you're going to take up is the point3 values of your 4 vertices.
Ie,
vertice1: [10000000000,1000000000000,1000000000]
vertice2: [-10000000000,1000000000000,1000000000]
vertice3: [10000000000,-1000000000000,1000000000]
vertice4: [-10000000000,-1000000000000,1000000000]
Should run like a dream.

Genius.
That is, except if you use brazil.
I think Onno had that problem, brazil calculates the photons on the entire surface of the ground plane based on physical measurements. Fair enough, but you got a quadrillion squared size plane, and its gonna take the piss out of your vinegar.

There has to be way to write something that would create an infinate plane. It would just be mathematical. I would, but unfortunately I do not have the knowledge of math/maxscript to do so.

hmmm...bummer....and im terrible in math hahah
I think we should petition Discreet.....GET UP OFF YOUR ASSES AND MAKE AN INFINITE GROUND PLANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think they would be cool with that?

The problem I had was using 25 bagillion light cards which in return caused Brazil to calculate 25 trazillion photons...
Brazil can handle large sized planes alright, as long as they don't have any self-illumination or opacity.

there is a infinite plane that comes with Vray, pershaps some smart coder could see what they have done, but guess its in the render enginen it clicks in.

Im actually not that bad with max script, Ill see if I can come up with something.

For a Maya Plane, you can create a plane, scale it to big number, and then copy the script from the script editor. Is it harder in Max?
As for the photons being shot out, you should really limit the distance on how far they are being shot, even if you don't have an unlimited surface. Also Light linking would be beneficial.

MikeWilson, you can do that in max too. it's allmost as simple

Alright, coolio.
I've tried max, and couldn't move, so I uninstalled it, though I should learn the basics of it..
