holy crap, that mental ray video rocks! they've made it usable finally!! no more cryptic weird alien language names for adjustments, now we finally have "speckle reduction"! seriously, the mental ray overhauls look pretty sweet, as does the viewport speed. automatic sky BG's, super fast and easy reflections and final gather, and how can you not be thrilled about that "rounded edges" check box!
but, i do agree, while these are GREAT fixes and little things, i was hoping for a little something extra for a full point release. Fluids, maybe. even blender has a fluid simulator built in.
but, hell, who am i to judge them. i can't even type an after effects expression, let alone figure out how to program a fluid simulation.
i'll make do with whatever they put out, forever. i love Max.
