how to animate???

well i need really some good tutorials of the animation on 3d max
i know about riginig and stuff but am totally new to animate
what i want is just like how to use the key frame and am using low max
as a character..

the character was low max alright i just wanna know what type of lights u used to make it great like that

23 Nov 2006I think Richard posted a link to a walk/run tutorial in the tutorial forums.
Anyway, if you want to get started on animation: first of all check out the tutorials that ship with max so you know the basics and the buttons.
There aren't many tutorials on animation to be found on the internet, but a good place to start is site, among other very interesting things he has a GREAT tutorial on pose-to-pose.
has a rather large collection of animation-related URL's under his Misc. section. I think he covered about every link on animation there is on the internet.
But if you really want to learn about animation; check out Richard Williams's "The Animator's Survival Kit" It's like the standard work on animation. Or you can check out some of Preston Blair's books.

The lighting I used for the "surprise" animation was a standard 3 point setup I believe (with Vray GI)...nothing too special
Watch Richard's video tutorial on 3 point lighting to get a better understanding of it (it's posted here in the forums in the Vid Tut section)
