hey guys,
I have my character and I have built the skin shader using sss material which looks great, now I have to add hair and such, I have started using this plugin called hairfx and it makes really neat hair very quickly, but as far as I know it doesnt support mental ray. I have tried rendering it hair out with fR, and it works! but the sss will not work Does anyone have anything they can think of that could help me with getting hairfx to work in mental ray?

there are several ways i can think of, frist you can try to enable the option "geometry" in hair fx options box, on strand detail option set the knots to 5 and the bezier step to 2 , that way the hair will interact with mental ray gi, shadows, etc. other way is to render the hair separated in other pass and then composite them. remember to use a light for the hair and "hair shadows" option in the light.
