I played with these setting for ever and it still looks like the dude is under water
yeah I think the whole thing sucks. But it it could just be me again
I think max needs to look at some of effect maya has (paint effects) and stop trying to act like it can not do the same fluid stuff. It could a market thing now that max and maya are autodesk

15 Jan 2007i didn't get any problem like that yet.
maybe try "live". it works very good without any problems.btw how much RAM have u got?
few things ....i wouldn't go with "15000" hairs with "3 hairpasses".if u r going with those hair counts it probably will crash.and u r using that much with 5 mulitstrands. just reduce hair counts 1500 or 3000 something.keep hair passes,multistrands value same.maybe u need to change "root splay" value according to ur needs.
Also u need to add collision objects like head mesh etc. whatever with hair collides. i hope that helps. -

(maybe it works for 9 too)
for cloth i use simcloth3 its free its simple and guess what IT WORKS!!!!
ok it has not much options as its own cloth modifier but i really dont need any couse i just want to make a simple shirt that i tried 3 days and it diddnt really work that way i want but with simcloth it took 2 hours and it worked

jigu...wow thanks for the help. I changed all the settings (render time cut in half) and just turn down things a bit and still I get a crash during rendering at the end when "rendering hair and fur" damm this is pissing me off!!!
Goul I'm doing the normals thing right now!
