pb with particle age map

03 May 2007hey guys,
i am trying to make smoke right now, and i have a little problem... i added a particle age map in the opacity slot of the material so that they just don't disapear,
altough i did this, they disapear within a single frame and dont' fade out... any ideas why?

04 May 2007i think its cuz you're using a material STATIC event, not a material DYNAMIC event. I think if you have/want any of the material properties to animate in any way, you have to use a material dynamic.

04 May 2007well i actualy used dynamic first but it did not work... then i remembered tyson managed to use it in his video tut on that wall, i check it up, and he used static, and it aparently worked... so i have no clue of what could be wrong

04 May 2007Hey bro,
The problem is that pFlow is getting confused about what the lifespan of the particles is.
Instead of doing an age test, and then sending those particles off to a delete event, replace the age test with a delete event and in the delete event settings, turn on age test
Tried it just now and it works a treat

04 May 2007Oh...and you DO need to use a dynamic material. Not sure how I got it working without one in my video! :O

it's the first time i got that working since i am making particles, ever! thank you very much for that, now, i'll try doing all these efects i wanted to do before that i never could, like a teapot and and a dummy..
