Opening a file while rendering it?

08 May 2007actually it shouldn't possible to corrupt a file by reading it
but its windows you'll never know
check your avi settings
what compression did you use? -

08 May 2007I don't believe you can corrupt an avi by opening it during a write.
However, if you have it open before you kick off the render...then yes, max won't be able to write to the file.
As a note, you should NEVER render to a video stream. ALWAYS render a frame sequence (tif, tga, whatever) and put it together after in your compositing app of choice. -

08 May 2007There are lots of free compositing apps out there
I used to use one called videoFramer. -
08 May 2007I prefer the not free one like AFX, did you know version 8 can render with multiple machines.

11 May 20077 can that too i think at least i heard about something like that (maybe its a plugin dont know)
but i render my stuff mostly as tga sequenses too.
exept its a small test render -
