File open failed!

Craig 63 posts29 May 2007Hi guys, long time no see. Ive been working on this model in max which i spent ages messing about with the lighting on, anyway, i went to open the file today and it comes up saying "File open failed" and ofcourse i forgot to make a backup, so im just wondering if there is anything i can do to try and get this file working again?

29 May 2007Nope! (seriously)
The ONLY situation I can think of, where "file open failed" can be misleading, is if you're trying to open the file from the "recent files" menu, and the file no longer exists where max remembers it last being (ie...you renamed the folder it was in, moved the file etc). -

29 May 2007Check the autoback folder, if it was the last thing you were working on you should have close to the latest file in there. I don't know about recovering the actual corrupt file, always save incrementally in the future!
