Help for character animation

I need some tips and trix for animating characters..
My problem is (the time).. I cant really figure out how many frames I should use for every move.. I hope You guys out there will help me, and it will be a pleasure for me if TYSON got something to say for that, maybe a video tut or what ever.. Thanx -

Well that's not an easy question to answer
It's something you have to learn with practice through observations.
My best advice to you would be to download other peoples' animation reels, and go through them frame by frame to see when they set their keyframes and poses.

25 Jun 2007There's a dvd by jef lew, he basicaly suggests getting into the habit of keying on certain frames ie. every 6 frames, this amongst other things makes it easy to retime poses .
Tried it and it works for me.
also if you hide everything in your scene apart from your animated character, turn off any morpher modifiers and any modifier above Skin ie. mesh smooth etc. you can scrub through with your time slider which gives you a rough on the fly idea of the timing.
This is where a good graphics card and processor pays dividends.
