Hello, I'm a recent 3ds Max convert and I am wondering... I've used Silo for modeling over a year now and I like it a lot. I know some studios use specialized modeling programs and some don't. Would it hurt if I continued to use Silo, or should I devote my effort into just modeling in Max?

Well, to be honest, If you are going to learn to model in any programs and do it for a living, I would highly suggest Maya, XSI, or Lightwave, and if you insist, Max. I'm not bashing Max, just saying a lot of studios don't use it unless they are doing games specifically, (being taken over by XSI) and Architectural stuff, because of Brazil. But really Modelling doesn't matter so much, because if you know how to model, you know how to model. Everything is the same in every program, other than the names of stuff and a tool here and there. So that's my two cents, now I'm going to run away before the Max squad lynches me....

Stick to whatever you are most efficient in. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is having quality work to show to a potential employer.
Having said that, make sure you are at least familiar with the modeling tools in a major application, can't hurt.

Ah. Ok. I've been hearing the Max is dying argument for ages, I'm not convinced that it is.
Anyhoo, thanks for the input. I've played with it's modeling tools but I haven't really done anything with it yet.
