Hey, I was wondering if anyone here has ever messed with making cracks on surfaces in Max. I want to make an object hit a flat plane, then have the plane crack. I want to make the object a bullet, so when it hits the plane it creates outward cracks. I know one way, I could make the plane an editable Poly, and use the cut tool to create the cracks. Is there a better way to do this or am I on the right track?

your on the right track. I would do this in reactor with rigid body. Add a fracture thingy to the wall or floor(it holds it together a bit more with this). then animate the bullet so it has some speed.
You can also animate the visibility so that the wall doesn't look cracked right up to when it gets hit. SO have 2 objects, one that is all cracked and on set of objects that are in pieces. Then animate it so it changes from the first one to the second one really quickly, and right before the bullet hits.

Autodesk just announced that Max 8 subscribers will be getting the plug-in as a feature update sometime soon. It looks like it will help immensely in setting up fractures on objects. Not to mention completely boosting workflows for hard-surface modellers.
I'll second the request in the meantime for a quick tut from Tyson based on that cool fight scene ani.
