Well its my final semester at school and unfortunately I finished all of my liberal arts classes early so now I'm one class short of being a full time student. To fill up this class I'm taking an Intro to 3D modeling (hehehehehe) course that I never actually took which teaches... omg..... MAX. I'm an XSI / Maya boy right now.... hopefully i don't get scarred by this experience. In all honesty I'm glad I'm getting the opportunity to learn one more package before being thrown into the real world.

Well, after a long and dull virtual modelling project (learning max, coming from maya) I can pretty much break it down into this simple sentence: It's exactly the same as every other program once you learn how to find what you want.
Good luck matey, I must say max is pretty nice. Stick at it !

Max is light years ahead of Maya in polygonal modeling, selection tools, etc.
Maya has a lot of cool features though, and Paint Effects is great, along with a lot of other things, as you know.
