Probably heard this a thousand times

As you can tell I'm a noob here.The weird thing is I wasn't looking for 3d or CG.I was googling for "Captain Morgan font" and seen the link for a very talented Captain Morgan action figure in the Sculpting + Fruit Carving section.So I joined because i've always wanted to learn more about CG.
I've been a freelance web-designer & coder for some time now and I'd like to learn a new trade.I have a couple of questions,if some of you don't mind answering.
1. Any training sites or online classes?
2. Where to find good cheap 3d software? (I'm school,So I know some sites offer discounts)

28 Jan 2008Well...there's a million different tutorial-type sites out there...just google "3d tutorial" and you'll get a lot I'm sure
As for cheap/free software....
Free:
-Blender

And most larger packages (Maya, 3d Studio Max, XSI) have student/learning editions for either cheap or free (I know Maya's is free)
