Hey guys,,
I have recently been watching a lot of Alan Mckay's particle tutorials but i cannot seem to get a good technique for fracturing using pflow.
For example i have a simple shape, that i cut up with procutter etc, i then make a pflow system and add a shape instance pointing to the objects to use as particles.. So far i think thats right,. Thing is, how do i get it so that my original object breaks down into these piece that i have specified, similar to a parray.
Tyson has a similar render with a shape exploding into a few parts, then landing, then swirling around to re form. The re form thing i get, its the explode i don't.
Also, if anyone can stand read further, Alan Mckay has a tutorial on a teapot breaking up into sand etc etc im sure you have seem the youtube vids. He fills the shape with particles etc etc which i straight forward. But, when i render , the teapot is clearly made of particles, how do i make it just the teapot as a solid obj then turning into particles gradually. I tried with a gradient ramp but its didn't work to well.
I would love some insight, im only just getting into particles so sorry if its very simple stuff for some of you guys/girls..

Quick question,
I followed tysons tut on particle fractures, and rendered it out twice - one in scannerline and one in mental ray.
Problem is, my image motions blur looks sweet on the scanner line, but its not on the mr render.. why is this and can i activate it for mr.

MR doesn't support default image motion blur.
However, you can still render out the velocity pass in your g buffer and add image-type motion blur in post using a plugin like Reelsmart motion blur.
Either that, or use MR motion blur.

Ok, thanks Tyson. Im don't know much about rendering passes out in buffers etc i think i will use mr motion blur for now or in post. But, i do need to learn this stuff so yey it gives me something to learn amongst all the other things in max
