Hi all,
I've recently been getting back into 3d...and really been trying to overcome the parts that I suck at.... I really need to enhance my skill with texturing, so for this scene, its a lion king'esque(thank you cameron for the description) shot....but I would just like to know some tips and advice on getting a good looking rock....
Heres what I've done so far...at the moment I'd like to keep it standard max renderer...so im not using mtd's.
So here is the final shot, i havent lit the scene yet....
Now to creat the rock I modelled it, and put a basic UVW Box on it (I wont unwrap it just yet...)
The texture consists of a basic diffuse map 256 x 256
and the bump map was bigger, 1027 by 1221 or something
So yeah thats what I've done...Im just wanting some tips techniques advice...anything to improve my texturing
Any help appreciated..
Thanks
Shan

is this for a game environment ? if it isnt i think 256 is way way way too little for your difuse map. you should be aiming for something like 1024 or even higher to get a more realistic feel . also you should derive the bumpo map from the difuse throguh image editing and greyscale painting.
