05 Aug 2006I suppose it doesnt really matter converting from maya to max.
I hear anyhow that they rebuilding maya to be a max clone but with fluids. That'll be cool, but I'll stick with max.
Good to hear mate, but I've always thought of you anyway when hopping into a new car and rubbing my hands over the newly stitched leather, or over the ridges of the cigarette butt machine. I was hoping for something different, like a man nappy designer, or a lingerie designer you know?

Enjoy the ciggy tray. I'll see if I can add a few extra 'nipples' to the new tray textures. Maybe I can use the SimplyCG logo. Really tiny so only those here are aware of it. 
Speaking of Man Nappy. I use to work with this guy at an ad agency in New Jersey, and I swear he was wearing one. He was pretty heavy. ( probably about 500lbs, around 6 foot tall ). Anyway, he would 'krinkle' when he walked or moved around in his chair. I say man nappy. Man Nappy. MAN NAPPY!!!
To those here who may wear a Man Nappy, I mean no offence.

Man, that was a pretty shocking experience I gotta tell yah... so bad that I spent 16 hours on the Tooheys at the Pyrmont Hotel to recover... heh 24 hour bars...
... I've been in a man nappy ever since...

g3org3 355 posts05 Aug 2006that sounds like a very interesting job. Although from my perspective it semms like you won't have a whole lot of creative freedom with your designs.
Other than that sounds awesome and you better have some fun with that. And when I am out of University in 4 years and get a car, no matter what manufacurer, I will think of you when I touch it. -
05 Aug 2006I hope you get to design a new dashboard. Every car's look exactly the same, especially now days. I want to see something unique and futuristic, not the same old stuff all over again. you know?

ptaverner 379 posts06 Aug 2006Hey Cameron. All I know at this point is that I'll develop textures in Photoshop, and Illustrator. Map that texture onto the object to show the client. From there, I'm not sure of the next steps, but I know we manufacture the molds. I just hit keys and drag a mouse around most of the time. I have nothing to do with the shop downstairs that makes the molds. I'll interact with the engineers, but I won't actualy create a physical mold personaly.
After I start I'll provide more details.
