I know theres a few posts about some specific movies on here but I just thought I'd make a general post to just mention movies you like. You can review, list, ignore, or whatever you want . Though it's nice to see what people are into, and since there's loads of us from all over the place it's a good way to find films we may never have heard about.
Heat: one of my favourites, Michael Mann (Collateral) directed this cops and robbers LA crime story. Each shot is outstanding with LA appearing cold, distant, and lifeless in every stylized frame. Pachino and DeNiro are great.
Apocalypse Now: Bloody amazing, listen to the sound-most of it is fake and syntesized to add to the sureal/absurd setting of wartime Vietnam. Based on Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" so it's extra enjoyable if you've read the book.
City of God: One of the best films in recent years, great filming and editing weave together several tumultuous lives in Rio De Janeiro's slums. Pretty depressing, possibly disturbing, but good all the same.
Koyaanisqatsi/Buraka: Not the same film at all but very similiar. Both beautiful works of art showing the world in which we live from perspectives and vantages that perhaps we should see more often. No characters, no narration, only pictures, music, and sheer awe.
Winged Migration: Nice documentary, again very little narration and its not needed. Basically you follow birds as they traverse the earth on their yearly migrations. Like the two previous films it provides a good look at the world in a way we can't often see it.
Once Upon a Time in the West My favourite spaghetti western, another beatiful film that despite being made over 30 years ago lholds up as vibrant and timeless. The film's epic settings (momument valley) and iconic music (by Ennio Moricone- you'll definately recognize some of it I'd hope) accompany a strong story and cast. (IMO

)
Well theres a few, I'd recommend checking anyone of them out. I'll try to think of some more films that I've enjoyed, in the meantime feel free to post some of your favourites.
