And unfortunatly is not that well made. But i don t think is his fault really. Usually the agency you work for will say..."Hey....i ve seen a cool ad for Sony, could you do the same effect?".
Edit: lol ...i didn t realised it was a studio....dumb me

what's funny about it is that Target's ad agency is right here in Minneapolis, literally about three blocks from MAKE. But agencies are like that. Especially in Minneapoils, most guys that work at the local agencies want to travel, so they award work based on location rather than price and talent. It's a pretty sad state of affairs. But the weather here is miserable about 6 months out of the year, so what can you do?

Well it could be possible the guy that made it hasnt seen Tysons work.... Ive come up with lots of ideas I think wow thats cool and original. Then my friend says check this out :O its my idea. Bugger. It happens
Though I just watched it and it's pretty damned close to Tysons

yeah, but arguably, Target KNOWS who MAKE is. They have done business with MAKE. The guys in charge are well aware of that commercial. That spot was all over just about every website that deals with cg. It was front page on digg, front page on motionographer, front page on boardsmag, front page on a ton of other sites. The guys in charge of creative departments know who is who. I think it was a blatant rip-off.

this industry is VERY fond of saying "we want this (points to cool, hip, trendy effect), but can you do it cheaper than they did it for?"
so i think it boils down to one thing: Tyson charges too much! hahahahahahaha...
(just kidding! anyway, i'm sure it was MAKE doing the billing, and whatever Tyson makes, it's not enough!)

thinking about this, though...
how cool would that be? to do an animation, and every person/company in the industry then spends the next year or two copying it.
how could it not make you smile every time you see yet another one?

Hahah...yea we had a laugh about this one at work a while back
Personally, I don't really mind. Yea it does suck or whatever....but hey, we all find inspiration from other sources, so I take it as a compliment.
Although technically it does hurt the business when another company takes advantage of an original idea that isn't there and then profits off of it, so I'm sure that if I were in a situation where I lost money because of such a thing, I'd have an entirely different point of view

yeah, it's funny because I remember when it happened, everyone was just jumping on it like crazy using it to promote their own stuff. It's kind of funny how this industry is like that. I can say for sure, that if a company here in Minneapolis, were to bring work to a local shop, that they would get the job done just as well, for at the very most, a third of the price. But as I said before.... It comes down to these ad agency guys looking for their ticket out of here for a while. Man, I don't mind telling you, it's like -30 f here right now, and if someone wanted to fly me somewhere warmer, i'd most likely go there. So i'm not blaming these guys for throwing away local talent, but I just think it's kind of shooting yourself in the foot.
In the end, I could care less, I get my paycheck either way. I just wish that the local ad agencies, (some big ones actually) would throw more work into the local pit. It's like nobody wants it to grow here. I think we have the prime area to crank out shows here. Think about it, half the year, you pretty much can't go outside........ The perfect production environment. work, beer, sleep, eat, work, work, work, beer, work, sleep, eat...
