My D&D short

09 Mar 2007So I finally posted my little Dungeons & Dragons short on youtube.

It was fun little learning experience, and for those of you who don't know, was included on the US release of the 80's D&D cartoon series on DVD, since that's what it's based on.

if you click on my user name over at youtube, you can see the other things I have posted there. One is a REALLY old trailer for a longer version of D&D that I was gonna do, and the other is a trailer for my next short movie, Justice. I realize the old D&D trailer is pretty bad, as it's one of the first things I ever tried editing, but the fans of the cartoon really like it, so I leave it there.
Anyway, this D&D short is only 4 1/2 minutes long, take a look if you have time. Thanks!

09 Mar 2007Hey man - thanks a lot for posting that up, I really enjoyed watching the short, it was very well made. The effects turned out to look fantastic! You did an excellent job on this. How long did the whole process take to make this little film? The actors did a great job as well, and I loved the prosthetics on that creature!
Congrats on the DVD as well! I bet that's an awsome feeling, having your own film on the DVD on the D&D - some thing you've loved for so long!

09 Mar 2007thanks iestyn! the whole process, hmmmm, maybe took a month of evenings. I was working alot of overtime on "night at the museum" at the time, so it was only a few hours every evening. Only took about 6-7 hours to shoot. Then I had to rush everything because the DVD people asked about it, and when they decided to include it, gave me a deadline. Which sucked completely.
Alot didn't work out as planned, but overall I'm ok with it, and I'm very pleased with how much I learned on it and the direction that knowledge has taken me.
And yeah, it's neat to kinda have my little bit of influence on the history of the cartoon by getting included on the DVD set. I see nothing but problems when I watch it on there, but it's still really cool.

Great effects as usual. I really like the creature too. The costumes of the humans were a little plain when standing next to the awesomeness of that orc thing. But damn man, nice work as always. -

Jay, the costumes were based off the old cartoon from the 80's. I just tried to make them a bit realistic looking, not cartoony. Just trying to stay true to the old series.

09 Mar 2007i didn't think so either, cuz i figured if people want to see it, they could go to the store and buy the set.
but then, i'm not making money either way. so i gotta promote myself.
i'll probably upload a higher res version to my website next time I update it.
