yucky. we use it at work. i don't like it, but maybe that's just their network. the UI is fine. its just slow as hell. i've griped about it before on here, so i'm done now.
I know you said you guys were switching, but dang. That was fast! What flavor are you using? and I might as well post this link here if you don't mind, for anyone that stumbles onto this thread, this link may be helpful. Linux isn't all about command line, but you sure can get things done a heck of a lot faster that way. So here's a link to a page with all the commands. I found this a long time ago when I was starting to use linux, and found it incredibly helpful.
Interesting that some here say it's slow - one of the things the IT guy and the boss is raving over is the speed.
One thing I don't like so far is the Quicktime setup. The VLC player is pretty yucky. We have some kind of emulating a QT player, but it's slow as hell to load. I don't want to wait 25 seconds after a double click to watch vids :'(
Now I'm not too worried about a little bit of command line, but only if it's more efficient. The example you gave makes me think it's not (though copying in this 'flavour' seems pretty drag and droppy to me - we're using SuSE btw)
