I just realized I don't really have any clue what you've been working on over there, Global! I think it's a feature CG thing, but maybe it's tv or something else? I think you're an animation supervisor? I know most things in this industry are super hush hush secretive, but what can you tell us about what you do, what the project is, what company you work for?

On the first point...

My Thai reading skills are not great, but as far as I can decipher it's just some news items. Some news will start with praise for the king though since the king is very highly revered here. Rightly so really as he has done many fantastic things for the country's development. Some outside observers would argue that the reason for this reverence is because it's illegal to criticise the king or the royal family. But I'd disagree. There is an enormous depth of respect, feeling and love for him... I guess that some take it a little too far and start banning things in his name (even though the king himself recently said he should not be above criticism)

On the second point...

Well, I've been a little quiet about it the last few months as things have been a little up in the air for me. I had a lot of problems with my visa and work permit. It got so bad I thought I'd have to head home and say goodbye to Thailand. Which would have been a killer since that would mean parting with my girl (and it's been a whole year today!!! ) Anyhoo. I'm finally sorted and things are going well >>>

I've started a new job animating and rigging at the Monk Studio. It's a new shop, opened up at the start of the year and is still very much just getting off the ground. But... the guy at the helm really knows his stuff, and knows what 'professionalism' means (that's something that is generally lacking in the field here)

The boss is Juck Somsaman, an ex Rythm and Hues sequence supervisor and has a lot of film credits, Superman, Garfield, Narnia etc. I've already learned a great deal from him and since he's very keen to develop the crew then learning and personal development is key.

So yay... all is good!

Personally I think the guy was nuts to do what he did. Having lived here for 10 years he should've known the kind of trouble he'd get into. However the sentence was rather harsh!

At first I thought it said "assault" so I was like...yipes...hitting the King of a country...and then I read that all he did was spraypaint some posters !
