architectural position

bzudo 151 posts21 Apr 2007I applied for this job at an architectural firm. there look for an animator
"is seeking a qualified and highly motivated 3D animator for a full time position. The position is needed on a fulltime basis to assist our design team with architecture related animations."
does anyone have any idea on what kind of animations would be required? i checked out there website and they have a lot of 3D models of the buildings. would i be animating for those?
the reason i ask is, i want to create some work for my reel that would apply to the position.
any help is much appreciated. i'm sick of working in television, i want a job doing visual fx or modeling or animation or something. anything but news!

21 Apr 2007my guess would be tons of walkthrough and flythroughs, sort of like touring a virtual building.
maybe there'd be things like a bubbling hot tub, or seeing a faucet turn on, or maybe cars driving by in an outside scene.
these are just guesses. i've never worked at an architectural place. -
RWilson 199 posts21 Apr 2007yeah, its mostly flythrough stuff from my work in archetectural animation. cameras going through, showing off the space and how it will relate to whats already there. Other than that the only other animation is cars moving around, maybe trees moving in the breeze and what not. usualy you dont have to animate people, but you can place them in or even comp live action people in.

bzudo 151 posts21 Apr 2007thanks guys. that at leasts gives me some ideas. i'm dying to do something with 3d animation or visual fx. columbus ohio doesn't offer a whole lot of it. right now architectural animation is about as close as i'm going to find.

RWilson 199 posts21 Apr 2007Architectural stuff can be fun. Its no character animation or anything but it can be quite enjoyable. we are doing some right now and its a nice thing to hit up once in a while.
