Pirates 3 *******Spoilers!*******

I'm never one to be overly critical of movies in any sense. I sit back and let things happen and for the most part I enjoy just about every movie I see. Including every video on the VHS Show. However, even with my laid back view on watching films, I can say for sure that if you don't like this movie you just aren't normal.

I'm an avid pirate fanatic. I actually use to work on a "pirate ship" where a boat was built to look just like an old ship and we use to do charter trips taking kids on a pirate adventure to battle other pirates and find treasure. Needless to say pirates rule, and I've been waiting for this movie ever since the last scene of the 2nd when Captain Barbosa came down the stairs and asked about the Pearl. I've been counting the seconds for this and I was not let down in any way shape or form.

Sooo awesome! Besides Calypso growing all huge and weird and then turning into a million crabs at the end (totally weird) everything else was on point. Up until the very minute it happened I had no idea who was going to become the new captain, the wedding/fight was really fun, the pirate lords were rad too. Just like...everything was so awesome!!!!

I wore my pirate costume to the theater and was the only one there dressed up, so I got everyone cheering as I walked in. It was pretty funny =P My gf has the pictures which I'll post tomorrow.

Couple of things I'd like to discuss that were unclear to me in the film.

#1 - When the rock crabs carried the Pearl to the ocean in DJ's Locker, was that the doing of Calypso? It shows her petting one as he comes down the sand dune so I thought maybe that was so.

#2 - Did Elizabeth join Will's crew at the end?


How awesome was Jack Sparrow's father? Cross between Dustin Hoffman's Capt. Hook and Sparrow himself. I'll be geeking out over this movie for months.

Things that i thought was cool or coulda been changed was

- Kiera knightley annoys me to no end. I was hoping she would die. (Thats a lie tyson you know it!, i think everyone got excited when that pirate asked her to remove her clothes, i thought we was going to see some sort of flesh haha Anyway she has hot legs.

- When they summon "Calypso" and she says she can only be summoned by somone who has love in them or somthing? Why does the no eyeballed pirate do it, whos he in love with?.

- "Calypso" i agree should be a huge somthing but not a huge crazy vodoo woman who turns into crabs. It would of been cool if they made her like some kind of sea serpent and that wierd whirlpool she was in the center spinning it all around.

- I thought the Singapore pirate dude was cool as hell but all the other pirate dudes were a bit gay / boring / dull i think they should of given these more menacing looks.

- Also what was so hard about this British dude (i forgot his name) Yea he had some huge army behind him and Davy Jones. Am pretty sure all them pirates could just run over kill the british dude THEN deal with Davy jones. The end bit was pretty lame, for somthing they was all so scared of he went down so easily, i found it kinda dissapointing.

- Denny is also right, why the hell didnt he just take Elizabeth onto the ship at the end, as long as he does his job he wont turn into some crapmonster and they can live happily ever after.


Overall the CG was great, no in fact it was AMAZING. I seriously loved the Ice caves, they looked awsome. Makeup and props rocked too, i love how they made all the pirates skin all dry and withered, really added to the effect.

Anyway i thought it was an AWSOME movie and i would see it again tbh.

Saw this yesterday. My major gripe *SPOILER* was with the other pirate ships. They did absolutely nothing during the big battle at the end, other than cheer when the amarda turned away. Pointless.

Still ILM at the top of their game (and Transformers still to come looks amazing from a VFX point of view); Geoffrey Rush was entertaining, and Keira Knightley was very yummy. FACT!

Truth be told, I fell asleep during the first half. And I dozed in and out through the rest of the movie.

man, guess im kinda an outcast here but i really didnt enjoy that movie very much... Man, the eye candy was there in full force and it was good but the story was really poor and the writing of the dialogue (cept' sparrows) seemed just bad.

way too long for what it was, could have trimmed a lot of fat and then would have been left with.... a shorter crappy movie, i suppose.

dont get me wrong, it was beautiful but just poorly written.

The first one was fun and creative and full of energy. The second one was almost a parody of the first. everything that made the first one good felt forced in the second... and, well.... I felt the third movie was a cartoony spoof of the second.

This one was great. Yeah there was bad dialogue. Yeah Kiera is a man. Yeah Orlando can't act. Yeah all the other stuff that's been said. But c'mon now, it's PIRATES!

And I was kinda dissapointed that we were the ONLY ones that stayed through the whole credits to watch the last clip. I was hoping the theater staff would come up and ask us to leave, or just shut the movie off, so that I could yell at them and get my money back or something.

So are they making a fourth one yet or what?

By the way...case-in-point for you Kiera lovers out there,

By adding nothing more than a simple beard and unibrow...INSTANT MANFORMATION!!!

I've always hated Kiera, she always spoils every film in with her in it - she always pouts! and it does my head in!

The film itself was pretty good me thinks! I agree that the Calypso thingy was a bit 'meh' and I also didn't like the fact that Jack got away with everything - such as, 'oh if i shoot this rope here - ill fly up there', and 'oh if i soot this ill have a parachute, and fly away to safety' - but everything else was kick ass! I especially liked the 'Davey Jones Locker' scene.

ILM did a great job, but the essence of the movie wasn t that great i have to admit. I m also a big potc but from the start after barbossa said the words "fair play" witch are unfited for a movie in that age, i knew there would be some dissapointment.


But good enough to entertain me a little.
