hey there guys,
i am back! and i have to say, these holidays will change my life! They made me realise a lot of things about myself and made me think about what i was really worth, or at least, what i was trying to be worth.
Untill now, i was sorta living inside a bubble, not caring about anybody else or anything else but me. it's like if i was living inside a kid's dream, doing my magic, and my cg just to "impress" and feel "accepted" by the others.
at madagascar, i learned to listen to others, and i realised that, there is more in the world than my belly button.
i am really glad about all this cause i was sorta turning into a self centered selfish person. (about time i'd realise that, and i am glad i did, cause we learn a lot from our mistakes!)
I just felt like saying all this tome somebody...
one evening, we sat at a table with local people and ate zebu with them. at first, we where not chatting with them, but we where just talking between us (my sister, and two of her friends that where there)
i really wanted to start chatting with them, but i had no idea on how to start the conversation.
after some time, i started doing magic, cause that was the only thing i found to sorta talk with them.
so here i was, doing magic to them with cigarets, coins, ligthers or anything i could find really.. once i was done, there was no conversation going on what so ever, i wanted to do more magic, but i didn't have my deck of cards with me. i asked if they had one but they didn't, so we started talking between ourselfes again cause i was out of tricks.
that really anoyed me cause we where ignoring the locals again... at some point, on of them left, and came back ten minutes later with a deck of cards, that he baught, just for me, the little white guy that was untertaining them, because i could do things that they where no able to do.
at that point, i have no idea how to describe how i felt like! but i realised that they, with the very little money they had, did not care about it and spent it, for me, for that deck of cards, so that i could continue my magic.
it's from that very specific evening, that I questioned myself a lot.
during the rest of the holidays, i went through a lot of other things like these. i'm not gonna go through all of them, cause it would take ages, and would be totaly pointless but i'll post pictures soon. (let me settle a little first and catch my breath)
once again, i just felt like saying all this to somebody, and wanted to apologise if i behaved like a slef centered selfish guy here.
well, that's me off again, have fun, all of you, and i hope to catch you all later with some pics to share with!
(what a shame that the transformers challenge is over, i was hoping on animationg this week but, hey, who cares! all that matters is that you guys did some major kick ass animations! congrats on all the entry!)

Hey - glad to hear you had a good time. Travel is certainly one real way to grow IMO. You remove yourself from the safety of your normal surrounds, which can shake you up a little when you are in totally foreign environment, but it forces you to take stock of things. Forces you to really think about stuff.
We still want pictures, and more stories are welcome!

Fantastic stuff Rich! It's really great that your trip opened your eyes so much like that - I cannot wait to go traveling around the world a bit!
I had a similar thing happen to me just the other day - the village I live/work in is probarbly the most tourist visited village in North Wales, which is awsome, I get to meet new people every single day. I was in work the other day, and in came a couple from New Zealand, and I just got chatting away to them, asking them what brings them to these parts of the world - we got chatting about New Zealand a bit, and it turns out that the husband was hugely involved in WETA!! I mean c'mon!! *High Five*
Without saying hello, and just staying in your little bubble can make you loose a hell of a lot on life, you'll get to meet new and exiting people every day if you try, and it's really awsome experience, and it's a pleasure getting up from bed going to work at the moment.

I got out of the bubble a few years back... It's quite amazing to think about all the people I've met along the way, the friends I've made, and all the stuff I have done, which just would not have happened had I stayed in the UK.

That's awesome Rich! I've done similar things a few times in my life, and those experiences help you get a completely different perspective. I think it's awesome that you were able to open your eyes like that. A lot of people travel and just treat it like a trip. they come back talking about how dirty somewhere was, or how the lack of commodities hindered their good time. It says a lot about someones character when they see something and allow themselves to step outside and take a look in. Glad to hear you had fun. Now post some pictures or something.
