CGocracy - Version 2!

Archer 65 posts04 Sep 2007Hi, guys awhile back I released http://www.CGocracy.com and it was well recived and I got a lot of feed back, but because of that feed back I started making changes to the site. Because of those changes the site broke and I was stumped on how to fix it, so Franklyn offered to help me out we managed to get it working. It took a lot of work, effort and time but it was worth it, so I hope you enjoy it.
But what is it you ask?
CGocracy is user driven social news website. now what the does that mean? Everything is submitted by our community (that would hopefully be you). After you submit stories/content, other people read the submissions and vote on what they like best. If your story is good and receives enough votes, it is promoted to the front page for all of the visitors to see.
What can you do as a user? Lots. Every person can vote (help promote), bury (help remove bad stories), and comment on stories. you can even vote and bury comments you like or dislike. Want to share a video or news story with the community? Vote for it at http://www.cgocracy.com
So with the help of you guys it can catch on and be really cool, just submit and vote away!

its ok, Im way behind.
You just keep building your sites for people with your browser.
Me and everyone else with a generic windows xp installation will just look at other sites. -
04 Sep 2007Most companies use bog standard explorer.
You should really test all browsers and maybe think about popular versions when making your site, think about the target audience, but also think outside that bubble
.
Firefox / Internet Explorer / Opera / Netscape? / AOL
E.g My friend Dave decides to show his Grandma and Grandad your website but since they havent updated their PC in 2000000 years they have like Internet Explorer 6, your site wont work. (Similar to Cams problem

Thanks guys but the problem is how do I get IE6? once you get IE7 you can't go back and IE7 was a forced update from microsoft so that's why I was surprised when you said you still used it.
None the less, we shall try and fix it!! Just for Cameron and Dave's Grandparents.
Oh yea I tested it on the other browsers -
05 Sep 2007IE7 is buggy as hell and most people who know what they're doing reverted back to 6. And yeah unfortunately there is still a very large percentage of people using it over FF. Definitely makes making sites a headache because not only is Microsoft not cooperating with standard CSS, etc. fixes but they keep changing things to make more things NOT work. It's the battle of the patches between the two. And then there is Safari which I didn't even know people actually USED at all until recently when it came on my friends new Mac and I saw him load it up
Anyway, it's a pain but a necessary thing for any good website. -
