Anyone seen it yet?
In truth I wasn't expecting too much of it... we all know the story (great book btw) and I'm normally not a fan of remakes (I mean - look at the Italian job!
)
However I was pleasantly surprised. Ok there is the added Hollywood gush to some of the story but was really impressed by the cinematography and the effects. Sure we can expect nice eye-candy from anything that comes from Spielberg, but in some ways I thought that the special effects were 'downplayed', not too in your face which made it a treat to watch.
One shot in that grabbed my attention was the 'escape out of town in the people carrier van type thing' (I'm sure they had a catchier name for this particular shot...) no big bangs or chases just great camera work and VFX in this sequence.
Anyways - no more from me as I wouldn't want to spoil it
