I posted this over on VFX talk, but I thought I'd throw it over here as well.
Some time in the coming months, I'm going to be releasing a DVD package of pre-keyed stock VFX elements. It will contain various elements such as explosions, fire, smoke, fog, smoke blasts, blood spurts, etc.
We are targeting hobbyists and amateurs with our pricetag, so you can safely expect the whole package to cost a very reasonable amount (around $70-$80 US).
I'm taking an open call for suggestions on the types of things people would be looking for. Is there a lack of sci-fi elements in the hobbyist filmmaking community? (laser beams, blasters, etc) Or, would you prefer more of the same, with multiple angles (rolling fireballs, smoke/dirt bullet hits)
I plan on offering this on hardcopy DVD, or digital download (with a discount of course)
I'm really open to any elements you guys are interested in. We are just trying to help people out, and make a little bit of money on the side.

Well having done a lot of compositing involving effects footage like that, I can say there is a lack of several things cheaply available out there:
-billowing smoke
-slow, drifting smoke
-steam
-dirt hits (bullets hitting ground, dusty objects etc)
-explosions where the whole explosion is in frame (I mainly use detonationfilms.com stock footage, and many of their explosions go out of frame which is hard to work with)
Looking forward to your DVD!
