i found this topic sounds very interesting, a home made rendering machine, amazing, and i don't think costs that much just takes time to set up. -

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts26 Apr 2008i am thinking of making it ^_^ may go visit ikea and check something similar calculate total cost, but pfft i am not sure i will be able to make it, but thats why internet exists you can find any problems along the way, main problem is heat (i don't want to waste of my money and burn machines
), have to think this through. -
26 Apr 2008Do you do enough rendering to need it? You're lookin' at about $2000 usd I'd imagine.

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts26 Apr 2008i don't to be honest, just want to see if i can do it, i wont do it $2500+, kinda saving to get a good still shot camera g9 cannon and a mamfrotto tripod with extension wheels ^_^.

29 Apr 2008I'm sure it works well for project based renders, but I have to wonder if it could handle really farming. If you had that box running at full capacity 24 hours a day I wonder how long before it melted. =)

29 Apr 2008im not sure if it even get hot because there is no graphic card that generates heat the q6600 gets only to 40-45 degree celcius max.(ok there is the hdd but it will mostly stay idle) and with 6 fans at the front and 6 at the back its basically a wind tunnel

02 May 2008so they sell those rendering machines at ikea? cause i'm going there tomorow, so i could bring one back...
but who wants to pay for my electricity bill?
