Iron Man

05 May 2008saw it last night, was really impressed with how much better hollywood has gotten at making superhero movies. this is hopefully one of many great superhero movies to come. the cg was excellent, although in the credits there was an awful lot of studios that worked on it other than ILM (including cafefx and the orphanage).
I won't give anything away for those that have not seen it, just that I think this is a movie that everyone in the CG world should see, if not only for the sheer eye candy that is Iron Man!
ps: robert downey jr plays tony stark down to a T, he did a really great job with the character

05 May 2008Well the X-Man,Blade, Batman ,Hulk were very good (i still diddnt get it why hulk is made a relaunch after the first movie was awesome imo and Eric Bana was a perfect match for the role) Fantastic Four was awful (both of them) spider man was more like meh Ghost Rider was a totaly waste of time Daredevil was very entertaining. Superman was meh too. V for Vendetta was awesome! Altough Constantine was very different i very liked it.Catwoman uuh ok i dont even talk about that one.
Of course these are my thoughts.
So its very mixed with superhero movies i think its more dependent on the Director than the hero itselfe (i mean look at the Batman franchise 2 superb movies and then stuff like batman and robin and than batman begins.)
And Jon Favreau has some good movies (i loved Zathura) So im definately going to see it but dunno when it will be go live here
but i will definately share my opinion about the movie.
I like R.D.Jr he is an amasing actor so its definately a plus -
05 May 2008Saw Ironman last night and LOVED it. Lots of "popcorn" fun. The story was nothing that we haven't heard or seen before, as it's a comic book movie, so the formula is tried and proven already, I think it's definitely worthy of being one of the top few summer blockbuster movies... And then of course, we still have Indiana Jones, Wall-E, Hulk, and That whole Narnia thing they got goin' on.... But those still have yet to air to the public, so we'll see how they do. Having seen a couple of them already, I have to say that IronMan has still been my favorite...
and oh yeah, it's good to be back.

mahmoudnahmad 1,159 posts05 May 2008loved the movie would like to know how they did those virtual 3d (holograms) and how they interacted with him, not to forget what they used to make them look like wire frame greenish transparent.
i can guess couple of ways of doing it but rather know the real deal. -

13 May 2008i saw it last night with a friend and it was fun i laughed very hard i loved the ironic and cynic tone of the movie in general(not sure if this was intentional possibly has to do with my personal stance).
and RDJr was great as i expected from him the role definately suits him -
Will J 215 posts13 May 2008I loved it too, sure the story is a proven format, but thats like being given pizza and milkshake for lunch everyday. Yum. I thought the CG was eyegasmic, and I loved the design of the suit. Also like the way they used haptic holograms, man I wish they'd hurry up and get that technology working! -
13 May 2008Yeah seriously it was awesome.
This is the first super hero movie 100% funded by Marvel, so they had final say in everything....that's why it didn't suck. Now that it made it so big in the box office we can expect to see plenty more coming. Iron Man 2, 3, Avengers, *cheer*! -
14 May 2008@diemacht: i think there was definitely that cynical undertone, and RDjr only helped bring it out further. i thought he really did a fantastic job at Tony Stark.
@willj: they really need to get moving on that holgram tech, i'm so sick of 2d displays
it'd be so much easier to model stuff with a 3d projector that you can interact with!
@jayg: i can't wait for the next iron man flicks, and the avengers one that'll probably be around 2015 or something, that'll be really cool too!

this summer is really going to be a great one for blockbusters. the new narnia, hulk, the dark knight, indiana jones and wall-e are still yet to come out! *drool* -
14 May 2008ILM is just crazy im not sure if we can call this stuff visual effects anymore cuz they dont look like effects anymore they are damn real!!1!11!
@ben thx for the link and its really sick wit the ironman suite shot exept for his face nothing is real
and this summer is going to be a real "droolbuster" summer
