I caught it Saturday night and was totally blown away. I swear, me and my girlfriend were like the only ones in the theater who wasn't a child or parent.
The story moved pretty slow for the first half-hour, but when it took off, it was f'ing amazing. If you've ever watched the show, you know that the races were about more than just which car went the fastest. Just like in the show, the driver fight dirty with snakes, bees, spearguns, mace (those big balls with the horns), sledgehammers, razorblades, drills, guns, etc. There were four main races and they were all incredibly impressive in terms of how much craziness you can get away with a car in CG. Heck, the cars spend more time in the air than on the ground as they are constantly flipping and slamming into one another like leap frogs. I won't spoil the ending, but during the last few minutes of the climactic final race, the visuals just explode into a psychadelic free-for-all that's just too awesome for words.
Long story short, the movie is stunning, surprising, and incredibly entertaining.

Nice review man. It's too bad it bombed hardcore at the box office. Iron Man proton cannon'd it's ass.

I dunno. by the trailers, the first 7 minutes or whatever i have seen online and from other friends telling me to skip it, i may just do that. Other than eye candy it doesnt look like it has anything else going on for it. i may see it yet, but im not jazzed about it.
with the 20 mil. opening weeekend (welllll below what WB was hopin' for) and prince caspian out next weekend, indiana jones after that I dont think this movie has much of a chance staying in theaters for very long.
