Wow! The final product is awesome... Really great job. Totally creepy story that reminds me of the Thing--I like sci fi/horror movies where the alien or monster is disguised as human and the whole idea that the alien is among us. I thought the camera movements were great.
I have a few questions for you, I apologize if these were already answered somewhere else... How long did it take you to complete the short? What was the most difficult part in the whole process? What advice would you give to someone else making a short film in its entirety based on your experience?
Congratulations on your prizes and all your hard work. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next

11 Jul 2008Hey Karna,
The contest ran for about 3 months...I wasn't able to work on it during that whole time, since MAKE had several ongoing projects that I had to work on, but generally speaking I think I spent about 2-2.5 months on it.
The most difficult part...hmmm...probably the modelling...I'm a very poor modeller so putting together the environments and characters was a challenge.
As for advice...I dunno, probably just learn to budget time and don't get in over your head....it can be really difficult to finish a project when the deadlines are tight...there was a point in the contest where they extended the deadline by a week....and before the extension 90% of the people (including those who ended up winning) weren't done. -

i watched the other clips and it was quite funny to see all the people that worked on other clips, a list taking the whole screen... yours pop up, "tyson ibele" what? is that it? where did the others go? is that the name of the alien? does he really exists and killed all of his co-workers just like he does in the clip? -

13 Jul 2008yea congratz awesome job and thanks for the little "making of"... i always enjoy when artists share some insight to their genius -- like that post (on cgtalk i think) about adding a fake chromatic aberration.. very cool.
