WOW - slow motion lightning footage!

rrateme95 262 posts09 Aug 2008Holy mackerel!!!! That was AWESOMMMMMMMEE!!! It'd be so kool if they sold it in the supermarket, something like "ultra fast camera... comes with free lighting bolt (note: do not aim at others otherwise they may sustain small injuries such as death)" -

Gotmilk 228 posts09 Aug 2008i saw documentary a while ago. It had the same footage and showed the guys who were trying to capture this slow motion video. They had a van filled with all kinds of high end gadgets. -

10 Aug 2008if you guys like this kinda slow-motion stuff(i know i cant get enough of it) then you should check out Planet Earth by the BBC, it has this spectacular 3000 fps shot of a shark jumping out of the water and chomping down on a fish. its qutie spectacular to watch, altho i'm not sure anyone will be able to top that lightning footage :-O

11 Aug 2008Ironically, cam...although your method sounds absurd and ridiculous, that's the exact method they used to film the bullet-time effects in the Matrix films. (Well...they didn't use thousands of cameras, but hundreds).
Would be insane if they built a massive 1000-camera rig around some place notorious for being struck by lightning (a lightning rod or something)...and managed to capture a bolt striking...then we could take the footage and pan around it and such, while the bolt is frozen midair -
