okay, how weird for me to be posting in the Maya thread...
but i know you guys could help me! well, a friend, actually...
so, here's the dillema. My friend made a round piece of geometry, then used the shatter thing on it. then he animated a cone-shaped gravity field up through it, and the broken pieces of geometry then fall inwards. it looks like a hole opening up in the ground. He wants particles to emit from the edges of the falling pieces once they start breaking apart, like dirt and debris falling from in between the pieces.
my advice was to use Max!!

(seriously! PFlow > Position Object > Emit from Edges)
But, since he knows Max about as well as I know Maya (we can make primitives and move them around in each others programs), i told him i'd post here cuz you geniuses could either come up with the answer or write a quicky script that would do it magically!
so, if anyone could help, that would be awesome!
