I have a nVidia Card. I tried setting the compatibility for windows 2000 and tried reinstalling too. Nothing so far.

ok g3org3 i think i have the solution to your problem i have been searching all around seems like the majority of duel core users have this problem and just now i checked the topic that talked about each person machine well try this Go to Task manager and Right-Click on Maya.exe process. Click set affinity and uncheck one cpu GOOD LUCK PLEASE DO INFORM US IF THIS WORKS i am on to it got to work damn lol just trying to help i have a feeling it will work this time

what Nvidia card do you have? I personally have had some problems running the 6600 with the latest drivers. I was getting all sorts of memory issues and stuff similar to this before rolling back the drivers. Now everything works fine for me. I think they are just pushing out cards faster than they can keep up with the support.

I tried maya 7 PLE at the school computers which have. amd x2 3800+ 3 gigs of ram and an ATI card. It has the exact same problem. So i am going to see if Maya 7 runs properly on those machines and figure out something from there.
