Hi, here is a model of Earth I made - the earth itself is a NURBs sphere - the atmosphere is a slightly larger NURBs sphere with a ramp shader - the problem I'm having, as you can see, is that the atmosphere on the opposite side of the light source (Directional Light) is visible. No matter how I rotate my light, I can't get rid of that rim. And if I turn the diffuse too far down, I lose the benefit of having an atmosphere at all. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Looks like we're out of ideas on this one sorry bud. Maybe it's something to do with the specularity? Someone knows I'm sure.

I dunno bud, maybe try messing with some of the render stats on the atmosphere object, maybe turn off double sided? Or render it seperately and remove that side in AE or whatever you use.

Are you using the falloff: light + shadow for the opacity of the atmosphere?
That'd be my way to go about it.

Try turning shadows on? Could possible by catching some kind of rim light from your source...shadows would prevent the light from penetrating to the other side hopefully...
