This may be a little difficult to explain clearly, but i'll try... I'm texturing the hull of a ship, the Titanic to be specific, and i'm having a slight problem with the coloring of it. I made a tileable texture for the riveted iron plate pattern that goes along the side of the hull, similar to a metal brick wall I guess and in the Place 2d texture node, I jacked up the UV repeat so that it would appear on the ship in the proper size and that's all working great. The problem comes when I try to color that metal pattern half black and half red like this
http://www.pottsoft.com/home/titanic/jp ... model2.jpg , however because my texture is only a small bit of the pattern and tiled like crazy, I can only either get a solid black hull, a solid red hull, or a red and black striped hull. Is there's a way I can export the tiled pattern from Maya into a texture file or something so that I could color that in photoshop? I had also tried coloring it with a ramp texture node, but it came out pretty crappy looking.
