Maya Framerate question!

I just bought a brand new computer and I’ve been trying to setup a simple scene in maya 8.0 with a wave. Whenever I playback the animation with the audio the frame rate drops drastically (to about 5fps). At this same setting i can scrub my animation and get 35+ fps even with my smoothed models. The wave file is small as well. My quesion .. is there a way to run Maya a different way like opengl so that the playback will play at the correct 30fps in my viewport?

Will J 215 posts15 Feb 2008You have a wav file in your scene? Thats unusual, I'm, not surprised your PC is being funny. I've never tried it. What most people tend to do is render off the animation and then add sound in a compositing programme like premier, if you just want some sound with your animation that'll work just fine
. I've never come across a situation where I needed sound in my scene, if you're after something else could you describe the scene a bit more for us ? -
15 Feb 2008in your animation settings, just to the right of your timeline by the set key button, you can choose whether to play realtime, every frame, or custom settings. You can also choose to see the waveform in your timeline, just in case you want some visual cues to audio peaks, to be able to time stuff a bit more accurately. Hope that helps man.
