Huge manipulators ARRRGGH

I have a wee problem that I would like to fix. My QUERTY manipulators appear huge on my screen, and I dislike having to pan and dolly all ove the place just to get at a handle (thus losing sight of whatever it is I'm scaling etc etc.) It's a royal pain in the mivonks, and I want it too go away. It wasn't bad before, so I must have done something (it is neer maya's fault, EVER, almost.) Childishness aside, is there a hotkey or preference that I've missed? Thanks guys

17 Feb 2008if you are talking about the axis manipulator for scale, rotate, and translate: + makes them bigger and - makes them smaller.
