Thanks for the tips bud. I sorted out the blendshapes (I was actually creating new blendshapes - not adding targets to the existing blendshape

I wouldn't have guessed that you have to UV before adding blendshapes (though UV mapping is not my stong point, I think you are safe to UV before or after blendshapes, moving the modifier up and down the stack is no problem there)
Heh, though I'm not at that point in Maya yet - in fact I've only opened the hypershade a couple of times. (why all those really bad names in Maya? 'hypershade' and 'hypergraph'... 'Material editor' and 'schematic view' sound much more appealing and more to the point

)
