I'm working on an ocean render and instead of simulating bobbing the camera with keyframes, I wanted to simply drop in a poly rectangle, make it a boat, set its attributes and then attach the camera to that. Which works fine when I play the anim with the time-slider controls to preview it. But when I start a render Maya hangs.
Frames were taking about a minute to render before I parented the camera but now the first frame doesn't even render after five minutes.
I tried floating and boating the camera, but that makes it drop into the ocean and then float directly on the surface.
Never tried anything like that... but as you are using a dynamic simulation I'd suggest you cache it before you render, if you haven't already. Hope that is of some use
