whos hiding all the secrets of compression

17 Jul 2006Started doing some compression on my animations, just wondering does anyone have some tips for compression, so i can put my films online and tips on publishing online.
getting a real pain in the arse because Im compressing high quality stuff from a gigabyte or more down to 20/30megs and its pixalated to mush
to see what I mean

17 Jul 2006I usually use:
Quicktime
Sorenson 3
Medium Quality, Millions of colours (or thousands), data rate 6400, keyframe auto
and prepare for internet streaming. -

18 Jul 2006i use sorenson 3 as well, but if you REALLY want options, and have some money to spend, you should get Sorenson Squeeze 4

then you can render out your movies uncompressed, and use this to compress them to almost any format under the sun, including ipod video, flash, anything. -
18 Jul 2006I like to use quicktime for the h.264 encoder. You can do some serious crunching with that codec, But I would say that for something the size you are talking about, You most definitely want to look into sorenson squeeze. one Gig is a pretty big file to compress, especially down as far as you want to take it.

20 Jul 2006well as the most people above i use sorenson too...
but if i want to send something over the net or need a very very very hard compression i use wmv (especially in AE you can tweak every bit of it) so most times i have a way more better compression (ten to twenty times smaller)with almost the same quality (ok not almost but if you consider the difference in the size of the video)...
i if i think again with the same quality you have it at least 4 times smaller than qt (no kidding)
you should try it i think...
