Hey everyone, this is actually a shot that I've been trying to get done now forever, but just needed the footage to make it happen. I know it's a simple peice, but let me know what you think. It's been a while since i've comped a shot actually, I just wanted to do an exercise that involved some roto, tracking, and Color correction. I put up a still, and below that there's a link to the .mov

Hey mate,
Looking cool!
Such a lovely backdrop, yet the sand we're stuck on looks like the moon, all gray and ickles... could you make it like a nice, fun beach surfy kind of light lght yellow, maybe through some half nekkid girls sunbakin??
nah just messin, all good.
one thing that does seem a bit odd to be, is those cliffs + island thingies look like they have a certain vegetation to em, fitting for somwehere tropical, somewhere exotic... yet that bit of land to the left looks like it comes from ireland.
That be me only quibble, cept for the crazy camera movements and lack of flayling tentacles.

Hey Zach,
Great to finally see it!
2 things I'd fix would be:
-Camera shake is waaay too much right now. Makes the show sort of dizzying, where what you'd want would be a light, gentle sort of movement, as if the cameraman is being moved by a light breeze.
-The bird that dives is too sharp, considering its distance from the camera. I'd say put a light blur on it to help match it up with the water. Also...you might want to add a bit of reflection under it.
Good job!

cool, zach! nice work!
i agree with the camera move being a little extreme, but i kinda liked the bird, totally looked like he was going for a fish.
something that drew my eye was the whitewater breaking against the land on the left of the frame - it's not moving. if the shot was a little shorter, or if i only saw it once (as if it was edited into a movie), it wouldn't bother me, but after a few views, my eye was locked on it.
great work, though!

Hey guys, thanks for all the response. The camera shake was part of the footage, so I figured i'd try and match it up and see how it went. As far as the waves in the background, yeah, I totally agree. I'll most likely go in and do a pretty big overhaul of the matte painting itself, and then recomp it back in with some other elements. I have some more with a sandbar with a bunch of birds on it, so i'll prob throw that in there as well. this is all just kind of a primer to fusion for me. So far it seems a bit buggy and unstable, but i'll know whether I want to use it regularly by the end of the week. right now it's looking iffy.
