Hi everyone!
Now I'm in my new appartment and well, I wanted to work again on my city. But I had something else in my mind. Who knows the "comics book" names: "Les cit?s obscures"? This is only in French, but this is some really cool books about utopia. A lot of architecture is involved in these book and the main character is always in the middle of a problem (by example in one of them, a man lost his shadow). This is really awesome and really well drawn.
In the last book: "Les portes du possible" (The doors of possible), a really awesome images of the most expensive restaurant of all in Tokyo. So I would like to model this as a practice for my city.
Here is the image from the book, bad quality + watermark. The green part is a golf field with trees. I'll have fun with trees!!

Step #1: make some basic shape for proportion. So this is a kind of sketch if you want.
In the next images, I adjusted a little bit the camera.
Next step I started to work on the car roads (or bridges). I'll post the next image probably tomorrow.

this is a great idea, replicating art in 3d. a great exercise, and this looks great so far!
the only thing that bugs me a bit is the scale. the cars directly under the golf course seem really big if thats a full size golf course. or maybe the golf course is too small.
actually this highlights one of the problems we run into about every ten minutes in visual effects - if you try to recreate something as it was drawn/described/originally envisioned, and you try to make it real and practial, it's probably going to look "off" (not right at all). 25% of visual effects is learning where to hide your "cheats".

The restaurant will be probably a bit more far. So I'll scale it a little to make it looks bigger. In the storym it's supposed to be a 9-holes course.
With the buildings, I'll be able to adjust the scale more.

The bridge
You can see where I am right now. The building to the bottom are in the right position and I'll start to make model them for next step.

Great! I can imagine when it finished.
Just about that man in the left. Tell him to not stand in the street. May result in an accident.

I'm working on the upper part now, I'll post an update soon. It's getting difficult for me to go on Internet as I lost my connection. Maybe soon I'll be on High speed (I was still on 56k!!)

Another update
I worked on the upper part of the city. This isn't completly finished (the right behind buildings isn't done).
I'll work again on them and the next part will be the restaurant itself.
Hope you like it!

Thanks guys!
I was on vacation last weekend, it's why I didn't post anything new.
Maybe it's time for bigger render, those renders are small.
