Ok so you all know i havent done 3d in a while, i HAVE to get back into it because i got into Uni studying computer games design and its basically going to be everything in my life for the next 4 years! (start in about 10 days :O!)
Well my mums company need an animation of a bee flying around a logo then fading into vector finally forming the logo (pretty simple with a 3dsmax and premiere combo) Ive recently been modeling a low poly bee which in real scale on screen is probally only going to be about 50 px by 50, maybe 100px so detail isnt a problem.
I know its not as good low poly as it could i havent had much time on this and i spent way to much time on the head cba deleting polys in case i fuck it up lol, deadline is this friday and i have alot of things to get done (Irl issues such as hearing difficultys, bank loans, final days working at currys, seeing my friends before i leave them for 4 years :O ) This has been the last thing on my mind. Below is a viewport screenshot i have taken just to show an untextured version of the model, took about 2 hours total modeling maybe 3 in 15-30 min bursts over past few days.
Also below here is a rig i quickly made up in 10 minutes, i have no knowledge in rigging at all, all ive been doing is making a tube adding 3 bones and playing about in skin modifier. This was a quick rig to see how skin modifier would react on its own with the bees body. I dont understand but i was showing archer and he mentioned somthing about IK's im new to this side so does anyone know any online tuts i can look into all this?.
In the image i have coloured the sections blue were the main parts like wings, legs and abdomen are connected.
What ya think?

looks pretty cool!
between this bee, ar lutik's flies on his perfume, and T's Creepy fly, it seems as though "insect" is the buzz word around here!
(oh my god, i should be flogged within an inch of my life for that CRAPPY pun!)
the transitioning to vector art sounds cool - are you just gonna match up the pose perfectly and cross fade?

Its a great model so far, what I'm wondering is why you're going for low poly? If it's for production work there would be no need for low poly unless you're doing something in the form of real time. Even if it's going to be small on screen it would be cooler with a bit more detail.

Nice one Aden.
I guess it would be nice with some more detail, but to counter what Cam says about it being a production piece I would repeat what Cam says about it being a production piece.
Confused? Well... one thing I'm sure you'll learn at uni is to fulfill the production's requirements (to the highest quality, of course). Do any more than this and you will most likely be wasting your time.
