Howdy all,
saw an image a couple of days ago on Dieselstation when looking for some reference images for a project I am working on for Mitsubishi, and stumbled upon the following photo of a wheel and rim of a Shelby Cobra GT500:

On this page that is, for everyone who wants pictures of the whole car:

Anyway: I loved that photo, and thus today I started working on my own version to see how long it would take to make something similar. The more I worked on it, the more I went away from trying to make an exact copy, but it still is very similar obviously.
Here it is (clickable for a 100% render @ 1600x1000):
I am fairly happy with the result so far, but especially the reflectiveness and interaction of the light on the tyre is what I like a lot better on the photo than on my render. Their light is more from the back and mine is too much omnipresent, too little contrast.
Also the paint in the dark areas should probably be a little bit more subtle.
I have made screenshots and saved all testrenders along the way, so I'll make a tutorial / detailed description of the progress when I have some time for it and when it is completely finished.
Comments and especially ctrique is always welcome, but not on how mine differs from the photo though, because I don't want an exact copy. So Only on what looks good, or not good or should look more like the photo because that would make the result better...
Thanks.
