Hey gang, this is a model i put together today, with a few hours work earlier this week. It is going to go through all the way to finished textured and rendered movie flyby stuff. Here is a clay and wire of my progress so far, i'd love to hear what you've got to say!

'eyyyyy!

A few hours?! Dude that's AWSUM!
No real crits, looks great - the only thing I'd say is that it's too symmetrical, as in, catherdrals normally follow the footprint of a cross. But that's reality... who needs real life?!

very nice man, how does it smooth? Just kidding, looks great, and in a couple of hours? Animal.

Hey Aaron it's looking nice, almost like that video we saw at school heh. I would agree though about aasymmetrical qualities adding realism to it and making it more interesting overall (not that it isn't already) Like...mabye a different window set-up on one of the sides etc.
But yeah lookin good man. I'm about to post an ambient occlusion render of my wine cellar, so keep a look out!

Hey everyone, thanks for the great response! I have a couple of quick clarifications. I worked on it today and earlier this week, so it wasn't a quick job, i am at about 7-10 hours for the total project so far. And second, I agree that the floorplan/footprint of a cross would make the design stronger, and that part of the model is in progress. Actually if you saw the model so far there is an open end on the other side for the facade.
Thank you all for the comments, and i hope to have some updates soon!

Did you spend a good amount of time drawing/thinking out a concept for this? Or did you just plug in and start building? It's freakin' great man. The molding and all the details are sick.

Howdy crew, thanks for all the kind words. Well the base model is just about finished, i have a few more things to tie down and then i am on to texturing and animating the camera. I still hope to have this one wrapped up this weekend, however it isn't looking so good anymore! Perhaps there will be finished renders by next weekend.
JayG - Nope i just blocked out what i was going to make with primitives and then refined everything into what you see. I am basing this off of the St. Paul Cathederal here in minnesota, but i don't have many good pics so it's mostly been guessing and inventing stuff.
Here is more as you can see, and a wireframe, even though it is almost worthless to see anything usefull.

Getting better and better!
One suggestion from me would be to sort out the camera perspective... I can't remember what it's called, but there is an atttribute in the camera settings to shift the vertical perspective - 'perspective correction' or something...

heh, woah

Thanks for the plug!
This one is nearing completion. I have some camera moves in place, and the textures are just about done. A few refinements to the lighting and BAM! off to render. Expect something soon guys!
Here is a progress render for ya.

Hey man, lookin great! My only crit at this point is that on the very bottom, the texture repeats a bit much, and it could use a bit more grunge along the very bottom. Other than that, it will be nice addition to your growing collection of great work! Are you planning on putting some environment in there or a sky or something? I think that might make it really nice as opposed to the standard model in a void type of thing.

great stuff man. Those passes look wonderful. One thing, if you are planning on making any last minute tweaks, I would take the pass where the tower comes close to the camera, and actually stack some blocks, or do some displacement. Other than that, looks nice man.
