03 Jan 2007This is a martial arts type back flip thingy I have been workin on since sunday. I found a reference video and started animating. I'll probably post the ref vid after I see what you guys think.

03 Jan 2007awesome! I bet myself $100 I know which video and who the guy is doing that kick. His name is Kim Do Nguyen, and it's affectively called the Kim Do kick, (or a double-leg xout if you want to get fancy).
If it's not him, he is the one that made it famous. post the ref!

03 Jan 2007that's lookin good so far man. Feels a bit stiff still, and possibly too slow at this point. Keep it up, this is neat because you never see people animate stuff like this. At least I don't anyway.

04 Jan 2007when he first brings his right leg up in the stepin, your guy hops back down onto his right foot, but he should do a small hop onto his left first. so his right comes up, his left hops a little back onto left, then right comes down. that's just me being a technical bitch, but i wanted to see the reference of Kim doing it before I said anything

04 Jan 2007Hey Joe! Its looking alot better!
The only thing I noticed was when he comes out of the kick in the air and is coming down, his torso does something funny- It looks like he jerks real quick to the right, so maby a few more key frams there?
Also his landing is a bit to soft, like hes going straight for that pose when hes half way down. Maby more exaggeration when he lands?
Cant wait to see more!

the red text at the bottom is obscurring the step that I mentioned which explains it, but no big deal anyway. and that's Kim Do, I owe myself $100.
I wicked like this because it's the same type of stuff I'm going to animate once I don't suck.
