04 Feb 2007something I started goofing around with today, just for fun. All that's really in it so far are some of the smoke elements, I still have to add particles, matte painting elements, a proper missle, etc... this is basically just a couple hours of goofing around in 2D only.

mechis 520 posts05 Feb 2007Hey hype.... that looked pretty good! Is the video just stock footage? What is the matte painting for? The smoke looks pretty good to me... maybe it could be a little thicker.... not sure.

05 Feb 2007the video is some footage VFXTalk is letting people download for their spiderman challenge. the matte painting will be the hole blown in the building, seeing the inside. i did a little work tracking it for the matte painting (it'll have a 3d move on it so the perspective matches properly).
here's a preview of my matchmove, and a screen capture of my old copy of Boujou working its magic. If I find it drifts a little bit, I'll fix it in AE. the 3D track is plenty close enough for what I need.

05 Feb 2007Looks great so far, the smoke seems a bit too transparent, is it going to just be like an overlying layer, and you're adding explosions and such in their and all that yeah?

05 Feb 2007Yeah man, this is looking great so far! That's a pretty solid track you've got there as well, tell me, how would you go into AE and fix the driffting? Manualy move the camera or use the tracking facillity?
Good job, looking forward seeing how this goes. It would be cool if you pretended to be the news reader and scream or something over the footage, and some awsome helicopter sound effects. -

how come you have so many points for tracking, is that really nessasary ? - never tried to track
allthoug a missile wont do that much damage where it hits, all the damage will come behind it have hit, like if you shoot a person. The entrence hole is small but the exit hole is huge.
you can see clear whats happening with the explosive Core its shoots in this shoot.
