Hi all. Just thought i'd show you all an update. I've added a few clutter to the scene, books, papers, and played a bit with the light. I've also done a bit more behind the camera, but im not happy to show it yet. The doors and still some more clutter needs to be added, but all in good time.
I've also made a texture for the table.
Hope to hear back from you guys.

Hey dude i love the reflections on the table, pretty sweet.
Ermm if you want a high ceeling nothing stoping you but i feel as if the high ceeling isnt nessecary in thie room, a lower ceeling would be better, but your descision, keep it up man.
Sorry for all the wrong spellings i suck.

Hey Aden, thanks a lot for the positive feedback! The high ceeling is there, because on the otherside of the room, the wall is just glass, i will render a shot from a different angle so everyone can see why there is such a high ceeling for the boardroom.
Thanks again Aden, i'm trying my best to keep working on it, but juggling two jobs is getting the best of me at the moment.
Thanks

Hello all, just thought i'd post some updates before i go to bed. I've whacked in a door to the second image and played a bit with the lights, what do you think about the lights? It's suppose to represent a sun set vibe, kinda like in the first photo, any pointers?
The first render is just to show why i've got such a high ceeling, i hope you understand a bit better now.
Please, any C&C are more than welcomed.

Hey m8 pretty cool scene, i see now why the room is so high, superb work there.
Some little things i wanna pick at to be a bitch hehe, the door it doesnt look like it fits the scene. The door is complicated lots of geometric shapes (squares) in a pattern, while the rest of the scene is simple and elegant, i think i smooth door would be better, or a glass door? with a lil hallway ?.. its your scene hehe up to you
The render seems a bit grainy, what renderer you using?
Also one last thing, the lighting is superb i really like it how the strong vibrant oranges are reflected on the walls at the other side of the room, really sets the scene.
Nice work m8.

Hi all, just though i'd post an update. Just playing about with Paint Shop Pro, trying to decide what colour scheme to use for the room.
What do you guys think?

Hello all. I've got a quick question, while observing the office here, i noticed that right under the tables have quite a dark shadows, where the table (or anything for that matter) touches the floor, the shadow is really dark, but then fades away to nothing as it gets longer (dependeing on the time of day of cause) but with mine (sunset) this does happen. Looking at my old renderers i noticed that the shadow is pretty much the same colour throughout, does anyone know, how i could make the shadows darker where the table comes to contact with floor, and under the chairs, like i've shown in this old render. Many thanks

I'd really like to see a wireframe view of this whole scene. Specifically to see the lighting setup you're using.
Very nice scene make, It will be nice to see your progression with textures.

Hi there Cam. Im not on my PC at the mo, so i can't show a wireframe, but at the mo, theres only 2 lights for the scence, one orange directional light coming from where the sun is shinning from, and the other is a small blue tinted Ambiet light located just infront of the wine rack on the right there. I'll send some wires tonight.
Thanks for your comments, much apprichiated.

I would would use an area light in mental ray with area shadows. I personally think the roof is a bit to high for any real use. Are you going to add blinds or something to the windows?
Sor far it looks good. But i don't like how "because i can" has a lower case 'i'. It just annoys me.

Hi g3org3, an area light hey? Hmm, i'll play around a bit with that, there is one there now but it's in the wrong place, and does'nt really do much.
Good thinking about the 'because i can', being Welsh first language i forget about the big 'I' in English, (my computer is set for Wales, no such thing in Wlesh you see).
Cam: here are a few angles for the wireframes, just a 'printScreen' thingy pasted out.

Sweet - the walls need to be excluded from colour bleeding - it looks like the sun is saturating the wall colours too much! other than that, from first impressions it looks like the board table and chairs are for midgets
I'm not sure - Maybe its the material on the base of the table needs to be tiled more. Other than that, carpet material can be obtained easily from free texture sites, they dont need to be super detailed as 1. You're making a short, not a static image. 2. You can just have it as a bump map - works out easier and lets you change the colour of the carpet freely!
Hope this helps,
Greg.

Hi all, had a quick play around yesterday with me old fave freind, Packageman. Just made him whack out a few poses, just to look how things are in the 'new boardroom' (to scale!) with someone in it.
I've given up on making the carpet huge, so i'm playing about with some wooden floor, with a bit of carpet (carpet texture not applied yet).
How would i stop the carpet from going that orange colour? It's suppose to be a creamish colour.

Im trying to create a blurred reflection for the floor, how would you do this?
Thanks

Just a quick update - played around with the lights, trying to reduce the render times, getting there i think. Still need to do all the textures, i might give that a go tomorrow, but all the clutter needs to be addressed to and some more props. Let me know what you guys think.

wow, this is great!
the lighting is beautiful. theres a million things right with this picture. Nice work!
i started reading this tyhread at the beginning, naturally. when i got to the part where the floor changed from carpet to wood, i missed the carpet. it felt nicer with the carpet, for some reason. more comfortable. the wooden floor feels too cold, too corporate.
but, after all, it is a boardroom.
and the renders are perfect - i'm critiquing from a design point of view, not a 3d modeling/texturing/rendering point of view.
perfect image. i miss the carpet.

Hey there man - thanks a lot! Lol, yeah i think the carpet looks better too, but i dont know, i'll have another play around when i come to it - i have loads of work to do on it, need to add a sculpture etc to make it fell a bit more 'alive', but for some reason, im not too happy with the lighting.
What else would you add to it?
Thanks a lot for your reply - it's made my day.

Ok
You like long and picky crits so here we go
1) You have a water dispenser but no bottle on top of it
2) "Because we can" make a rectangle see trough glass and put it on top of that because you wouldn't have letters floating like that on a wall
3) Bring the floor reflection down by just a little move the table up so that there are shadows underneath
4) Textures
5) The lighting is good but it?s grainy at some points
I think that about it for me then... that wasn't that long... anyway I hope it helped you

i would change very little.
i liked the carpet, but that's just because i prefer carpets over hardwood floors in general. if my apartment had wood floors, i'd probably carpet over it.
the grain in the lighting is a mental ray setting. can't remember which one, i'm not too keen on rendering with mental ray yet. i have used it, of course, but not enough to have each little setting memorized. i'd say we need a good book on mental ray rendering, but i know theres one coming out this year (for max and maya).
it feels like that back wall (the one with the watercooler) is a little plain. it doesn't look bad, but everything against that wall is the same color/texture. maybe change a color or add something just to break up the monotony.
but, if you left it just as it was, i still think its pretty impressive. the lighting really sets a mood.

I agrees with hype.
The scene is looking really good, the shadows and reflections are really nice and go with the lighting in the scene.
The text on the wall, you obviously haven't been out much Rich, you get stuff like that everywhere, especially in these kinds of situations. My only suggestion would be to capitalise them, and center them above the door.
But yeah, needs more colour and variance.
