Hey all, i'm working on a bunch of things for school and i figured i'd post them for some crits. Basically i've combined my finals for 4 of my classes. (modeling, animation, sound design, and game design) so far i've gotten the core programming of the game down which is a flash based game. that can be found here It also might be useful if i tell you the controls hah... Use the mouse to move, click to shoot, and use A and D to rotate.
for animation and modeling class i'm just doing a simple 3d intro for the game. The first shot and the animation for the second shot can be found here
it will consist of 3 more little scenes. When the camera swings around it will reveal a large airforce. Then another 7 seconds of the friendly airships launching and meeting them for battle.
no sound fx yet, just the music which will be there in the final. (music was provided by a friend)
i had much higher ambitions for the animation but i just don't have time to finess it. let me know what you think. (and yes i know it's very amature)
edit: hah the game is sooo laggy online... oh well. Link to movie is fixed.

Dont take offense to this, but I'm not a fan of the music. It just doesnt fit the animation. Also, the quality could be better as I think I'm hearing clipping.
As far as the animation is concerned, I like where this is headed. Making planes look like they are flying is a hard thing to do. Some things I might do is have them shake ever so slightly to give the illusion of air resistance. Also, maybe you can do some light wispy clouds in post that fly by the planes.

Yeah not many people are diggnig the music. I had in my head a picture of an old 8bit happy videogame when hearing the music so i just went with it.
yeah i have an updated clip with the new flames and clouds i'll post later when i render it.

i've got an updated video with a test for the third scene.. I'd really appreciate a tiny bit of feedback

...
and thanks denny, i watched that little aftereffects tutorial hype did on expressions and i think the wiggle really helps for the airplane shots

here are some shots of the plane hanger... nothing animated yet, just model/textures and some render testing

here's the flash file with the intro, and temporary menu screen. Final logo and text will come later. ... If you hit start, level one is kill 45 enemies in 60 seconds, level 2 is to protect the buildings for 60 seconds...
the backgrounds are temporary. My friend modeled a little 15-20 block city with buildings that the enemies will be destroying. After that, we've got 4 more levels. Two boss stages and we have 4 or 5 different enemy designs.

Hmmm....exe? Can't you render out an mpg, mov or avi???
A general rule for me is to never download exe files that aren't a specific program I'm after

well yeah it's a flash .exe, runs better than on a website (below), but i understand why you wouldn't want to download. The movie in it is in the previous post.
and the game with the movie is at
i made it an exe file because it's really laggy in an html file. the sound is TOTALLY off in the flash docu
